Taleb Rifai: Supporting Tunisian tourism equals supporting democracy and new Tunisia

April 21, 2011 - TAP - Interim President Foued Mebazaa received, on Thursday morning in Carthage, United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Secretary-General Taleb Rifai.
Following the meeting, Mr. Rifai asserted the Organization’s commitment to support tourism sector in Tunisia. "Supporting Tunisian tourism equals supporting democracy and new Tunisia," he stressed, specifying that "backing up the democratic process in Tunisia is a highly important issue in the United Nations Organization".
He also expressed admiration for the Tunisian tourist trade which earned Tunisia to become an "attractive tourist destination worldwide".
Post-Revolution Tunisia, he asserted, is to enrich and valorize its experience in this field which, he said, constitutes "a real success story".
Besides, Mr. Taleb Rifai said that his talk with the Interim President revolved around the strategy of marketing and communication aimed to promote Tunisian tourism, voicing, in this connection, the "UNWTO's commitment to support this sector, notably at the technical and political levels".
