Tunisia elected member of UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

April 30, 2011 - TAP - Tunisia was elected, for a three-year term, member of UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice stemming from the United Nations Economic and Social Council, in New York.
The election was held during the meeting devoted to the choice of new members, in the different structures of the council and on the level of the technical commissions.
This commission, created in 1992, is mainly tasked with the mission of strengthening international co-operation, for the fight against crime at the national and trans-national scale including organized crime, economic crime and money laundering.
It strives to promote means of fight against crime in urban zones and violence and improve management of criminal justice affairs.
