China supports Tunisian people and transition process

May 20, 2011 - TAP - Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping reasserted his country's esteem and respect to the Tunisian people and support to Tunisia's transition process.
The Chinese Vice-President who received, on Friday in Beijing Foreign Minister Mouldi Kéfi on his working visit in China, on May 19-21, extended regards to Tunisia's Caretaker President, Interim Prime Minister and people, reiterating his thanks to Tunisia for the assistance it had provided to Chinese citizens during their evacuation from Libya.
Besides, a working session, under the co-chairmanship of Tunisian FM and his Chinese opposite number Yang Jiechi, provided the occasion to examine means to develop economic relations and boost co-ordination on regional issues of mutual interest.
On this occasion, Mr. Mouldi Kéfi called on China to further support Tunisia at this stage, by inviting the large Chinese enterprises to invest in Tunisia, particularly in the interior and underprivileged regions.
He proposed various large-scale projects, job-creating ones for those regions.
The Chinese side voiced readiness to look into these projects and to carry on backing up Tunisia at all levels.
The FM's visit is part of the co-operation relations binding the two countries and bilateral consultation on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
