Qatar reasserts support to Tunisia at transition stage

May 25, 2011 -TAP - Caretaker President Foued Mebazaa received, on Wednesday morning, ambassador of Qatar in Tunis Saâd Naceur Al-Hmidi who handed him a written message from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani.
On this occasion, the Interim President commended progress of the Tunisian-Qatari close relations, expressing consideration to Qatar for its support to Tunisia at this delicate transitory stage and to the Tunisian government's effort to achieve the January 14 Revolution objectives.
The Tunisian revolution for dignity and freedom, he underlined, came to place as priorities for the government, employment, economic development, stability and achievement of democratic transition.
Tunisia, he went on saying, counts on the support of its sister countries to bolster its efforts aiming to meet people's aspirations.
The Caretaker President also voiced thanks to the state of Qatar which spared no effort to back up Tunisia in its efforts aimed to contain the flow of refugees fleeing Libya because of the deteriorating security situation in that sister country.
In turn, the ambassador of Qatar reasserted his country's support to Tunisia and the Tunisian people at this transitional stage.
In this connection, he announced that Qatar's Minister of State of International Co-operation will have, in the two coming days, a meeting with several Tunisian senior officials to examine means to boost bilateral co-operation and diversify its fields, in the service of the excellent relations binding the two countries.
Following the meeting, the Qatari diplomat said he had handed Mr. Foued Mebazaa a written message from Sheikh Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani in response to a message which had been handed to him by the National Defence Minister last April.
This message, which turned on evolution of the relations between the two countries, comes to reaffirm Qatar's constant support to Tunisia, he specified.
