Interim President briefed on Social Affairs Ministry's activities

Friday, June 03, 2011 - TAP - Interim President Foued Mebazaa was briefed on the development of the social situation in the country when receiving, on Friday, Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Ennaceur.
The meeting focused on the debate that was held between the social affairs ministry and the High Authority for the Achievement of Revolution Objectives, Political Reform and Democratic Transition, to look at employment, labour relations, wages and poverty rate.
The Interim President emphasised the need to establish the principle of national concord to iron out difficulties and obstacles of the current stage.
He stressed the need to foster dialogue between the government and various social and professional sides and with all the civil society components, to gather factors of social stability and contribute to the achievement of the social justice sought-after.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed Ennaceur spoke about the agreement on wage increases in the public service, after the rise in the minimum guaranteed interprofessional wage and the minimum guaranteed agricultural wage.
Moreover, he said that collective bargaining in the private sector has made substantial progress and that there is a will to reach a total consensus as soon as possible.
