Interim President follows up security situation in the country and on border with Libya

Saturday, June 11, 2011 - TAP - Caretaker President Foued Mebazaa conferred, on Saturday in Carthage, with Interim Prime Minister Béji Caïd Essebsi, Interior Minister Habib Essid, National Defence Minister Abdelkrim Zbidi, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister Rafaa Ben Achour and General Rachid Ammar, Chief-of-Staff of the Armies.
The meeting reviewed the security situation in the country and on the Tunisian-Libyan border in particular, with the mounting number of refugees fleeing violence in that country.
Emphasis was placed on the need to carry on efforts to ensure Tunisia's security and quietude and guarantee success of the historic transitory phase the country is living through.
Mr. Mebazaa paid tribute to the internal security units and the National Army which are working hand in hand to strengthen stability in the country and preserve its sovereignty and integrity.
He stressed the importance of involving the citizens and the different civil society components in this noble mission.
