Interim President receives Finance Minister

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - TAP - Caretaker President Foued Mebazaa took interest, when receiving on Tuesday Finance Minister Jalloul Ayed, in the preparations for Tunisia's participation in the G8 Finance and Foreign Ministers' meeting, next July in Brussels.
On the occasion, Mr. Jalloul Ayed said that these preparations were making sure progress and that efforts were focused on identifying Tunisia's financial needs, pointing out that these efforts could but reassert the importance of the economic and social programme presented during the Deauville G8 Summit and would help get the necessary funds from the G8 countries, the financial and international institutions and several sisterly and friendly countries.
He added that the meeting had turned on the structural reforms that needed to be carried out to make of this social and economic programme a success, notably in the financial and banking sectors, civil service and the administration.
Besides, the Minister said that the talk had been an opportunity to discuss the furtherance state of several draft complementary reforms, regarding notably the legal framework for venture capital firms and micro-credits that are of a central importance in the economic and social programmes.
Mr. Jalloul Ayed also emphasised preparations for the creation of the Deposit and Consignment Office and the establishment of a sovereign fund called the "Generations Fund".
