June 30, 2011 - TAP) – Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Abdessalem Jrad said he had found with the Interim Government "full readiness to achieve the objectives of the Revolution and to foster the Tunisian people's unity".
In a statement to TAP news agency after his meeting on Thursday in Tunis with Caretaker Prime Minister Béji Caid Essebsi, Mr. Jrad called on "all components of Tunisian  society, all parties and organisations to shoulder their responsibilities".
He called for "stepping up efforts to ensure success of democratic transition and avoid all that is likely to lead to insecure situations similar to those experienced in the recent period".
He said he had reviewed with the Caretaker PM several issues, particularly those related to sit-ins and strikes and ways to create more jobs for youth. These issues are "among the principal concerns of UGTT", he said.
On the likelihood of an upcoming cabinet reshuffle, Mr.  Jrad pointed out that UGTT has no intention to submit names for ministerial positions, stressing the labour union's keenness to carry on co-operating with the Interim Government in the service of the country's interest.
