British consideration to Tunisia's efforts to achieve democratic transition

Tuesday, July 12, 2011 – TAP - Interior Minister Habib Essid conferred Monday in London with his British counterpart Theresa May. The latter expressed consideration to Tunisia for the efforts deployed to achieve transition to democracy, reaffirming determination to contribute to reinforcing co-operation in matters of security between the two countries in the different fields.
The Interior Minister highlighted the efforts made by the Interim Government to ensure the success and transparency of the next elections, in spite of the social and economic problems the country is living through in light of the instability prevailing in the region.
He also spoke of means to boost co-operation between the two countries' interior ministries and draw inspiration from the British experience in matters of specialised training and fight against the different forms of crimes.
The meeting was attended by Tunisia's Ambassador in London Hatem Atallah.
