Interim President briefed on road network programmes

August 17, 2011 - TAP - Interim President Foued Mebazaa met on Wednesday in Carthage with Equipment Minister Mohamed Ridha Fares who informed him of the progress of the department's activities and its road network programmes.
Emphasis was placed on the need to boost the pace of completion of projects in this area to serve the national economy and to enhance balance between regions, improve access to remote areas, promote living conditions and prompt job creation.
The meeting reviewed the progress of works of construction of interchanges and roads in Greater Tunis, some of which will be completed this year.
Stress was put on the start of works planned for 2011 particularly in regions and providing for roads widening and realisation of the local tracks programme.
This programme involves 760 kilometres to which will be added 1,000 km, as part of the additional State budget for this year, while works will start in 2012.
