NCA to hold inaugural session on November 22

November 12, 2011 - TAP - The opening session of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the premises of the former Chamber of Deputies in Bardo.
This was decided at a co-ordination meeting held on Saturday in Carthage, under the chairmanship of Caretaker President Foued Mebazaa and the presence, particularly, of secretaries general and delegates of political parties represented at the NCA.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ridha Belhaj, Delegate Minister to the Prime Minister, and Iyadh Ben Achour, Chairman of the Higher Authority for Achievement of the Revolution Objectives, Political Reform and Democratic Transition that closed its mission on October 13, 2011.
The Interim President commended Tunisia's success in organising fair and transparent elections, congratulating the Tunisian people, on the success of the transition phase after the Revolution, and the winning parties in those elections.
Mr. Mebazaa emphasised the importance of co-ordination to join optimum conditions for the start of works of the National Constituent Assembly. The date of November 22 was retained to allow the Constituent Assembly's members to prepare well for this event.
Participants in the co-ordination meeting agreed unanimously to choose the premises of the former Chamber of Deputies in Bardo to host the Constituent Assembly's works.
It was also agreed upon that the decree-law to be promulgated by the Interim President to invite NCA members to attend the opening session should also include organisational provisions to ensure the good running of the opening session.
Participants expressed will to see the National Constituent Assembly start its works as soon as possible to fulfil its mission of serving the people.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ennahdha Movement party, the Congress for the Republic Party, The Democratic Forum for Labour and Liberties, aka Ettakatol, the Progressive Democratic Party, the Modernist Democratic Pole, the Initiative Party, aka Al-Moubadara, the Afek Tounes Party and the Revolutionary Alternative.
