April 25, 2012 - TAP - The Tunisian and Libyan Ministries of industry agreed to create a technical committee in both countries to consider establishing an industrial complementarity strategy between Tunisia and Libya, said Libyan Industry Minister Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Ftissi.
Speaking after his meeting, Wednesday in Tunis, with Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, the Libyan official said his country is interested in the Skhira refinery project, pointing to the possibility of supplying this plant with Libyan crude oil.
"I will present this project to the Libyan Government for consideration," he said in this regard.
The Skhira refinery project, an integrated plant for chemical industries, will be the subject of concession for a foreign investor.
Negotiations on this project are underway between Tunisia, Libya and Algeria.
The Libyan Minister also stressed the interest his country takes in the initiative of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organisation (AIDMO) seeking to develop border areas between Tunisia and Libya, on the one hand and Egypt and Libya, on the other one.
