Abbas : Tunisia has a role to play in Palestinian reconciliation

April 30, 2012 - TAP - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had talks on Monday morning with Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali on Tunisian-Palestinian relations, negotiations between Palestine and Israël in the United Nations and the issue of Palestinian national reconciliation.
"Tunisia has a role to play in supporting efforts of reconciliation and bringing Palestinian brothers' views closer ", affirmed President Abbas at the end of the meeting.
Besides, he stressed the importance of boosting the Tunisian-Palestinian joint commission in order to develop bilateral relations in all fields.
The PM reiterated for his part Tunisia's support to the brotherly Palestinian people, reminding that slogans for the defence of the Palestinian cause had been chanted during the Revolution of January 14.
The delegation accompanying President Abbas includes official spokesman for the Presidency Nabil Abou Roudeina, Foreign Minister Riadh Meliki and member of the central committee of Fatah Azem Al-Ahmad.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister and the two countries' Ambassadors.
