Cabinet meeting discusses draft law on banks and financial institutions

22 February 2016 - TAP - An inner Cabinet meeting held Monday at El Kasbah under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Habib Essid focused on the draft law on banks and financial institutions and the amendment to the law on the creation and organization of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

The two bills are part of restructuring the financial system based on international best practices and compliance with modern banking governance, the Prime Ministry said in a press release.

They aim to establish efficient governance for the financial market, allowing to modernize the banking sector and consolidate its financial bases to create necessary conditions for the preservation of the financial stability and the protection of depositors.
