Prime Minister meets EIB Vice-President

24 February 2016 - TAP - Prime Minister Habib Essid met, on Tuesday at Dhiafa Palace, Carthage, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Roman Escolano, the Prime Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the progress recorded in the country’s indicators, marking the recovery of the Tunisian economy, the EIB VP was quoted as saying after the meeting.

He said his visit to Tunisia saw the signing of a guarantee agreement and a memorandum of understanding with an overall value of around EUR 250 million.

Escolano said the EUR 100-million guarantee agreement concerns the first installment of the line of credit provided by EIB to Tunisian banks and leasing companies. The funds are dedicated to support small and medium enterprises.

As for the MoU, it pertains to a partnership program between Tunisia and the EIB on a road infrastructure modernization project. The cost of the project is EUR 150 million, he added.
