Prime Minister Habib Essid, a department press release reports, laid emphasis on the need to stay on the alert and be vigilant to prevent any threat targeting Tunisia’s integrity and the citizens’ security.

Besides, he called Tunisians to support the army and security forces in their fight against terrorism and terrorists’ hunting.

Essid paid tribute to the army, national guard and security units who conducted a successful operation, Wednesday, against a house in the  locality of Laaouija (at 12 km from Ben Guerdane), where a terrorist group infiltrated from Libya took refuge, thus foiling their terrorist plans.

In this raid, five elements of the armed group were killed and a senior army officer was wounded, said spokesman for the defence ministry Belhassen Oueslati, adding that his state is steady.

A citizen present on the site of clashes was killed by mistake, succumbing to his wounds at the level of the abdomen, a security source specified to TAP correspondent in the region.

The terrorist group who infiltrated from the Libyan territory on board of all-terrain vehicles, counts ten members.
