PM chairs meeting of security co-ordination and monitoring unit

05 March 2016 - TAP - Prime Minister Habib Essid chaired, Saturday morning, the meeting of the security co-ordination and monitoring unit which “considered the security situation in the country and efforts to prevent any terrorist threat and respond to it."

According to a Prime Ministry press release, the meeting “reviewed the steps taken in implementing measures and provisions decided as part of the new security action approach, based on anticipation and tracking terrorists in their hideouts."

The meeting “looked at the plan adopted to secure borders, particularly southwestern borders, in light of the possible developments in Libya.”

Habib Essid called during this meeting for total vigilance to counter any threat to the country’s territorial integrity and citizens’ security.

He also pointed out the need to join the efforts of all political and social actors to further bolster national unity.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of national defence, Interior affairs and foreign affairs as well as senior security and military officials.
