19 March 2016 - TAP - The Security Coordination and Monitoring Unit met, on Saturday morning, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Habib Essid, with attendance of Ministers of National Defence, Interior, Foreign Affairs as well as senior security and army officers.

The meeting focused on the security situation in the country and ongoing efforts to counter terrorism and win the war on this scourge, particularly in light of the developments of the situation in Libya, the Prime Ministry said in a statement.

“The unit took stock of the terrorist attack thwarted in Ben Guerdane last March 7, noting the coherence between the security forces, the army and citizens to neutralize terrorists and hunt down those who fled to Ben Guerdane,” the statement reads.

The reactivation and intensification of anticipatory operations, the need to show permanent vigilance and total operationality and the support that citizens and the different parties must provide to army and security institutions were also tackled during the meeting.

Emphasis was also placed on the importance to implement the decisions set to ensure the protection of public and private institutions and avoid any form of slackening.
