PM confers with UN S-G, WB President

29 March 2016 - TAP - Prime Minister Habib Essid Monday had a talk in Dar Dhiafa, Carthage, with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and President of the World Bank Group Jim Yong Kim.

The meeting focused on the Financing Initiative to Support the MENA Region launched by the United Nations and the World Bank. It also addressed the creation of a UN fund to support the economies of countries in democratic transition, including Tunisia, said a Prime Ministry press release.

In addition, Tunisia’s contribution to peacekeeping operations in the world and the situation in Libya were discussed.

The UN S-G commended Tunisia’s efforts on the path of democratic transition and reiterated UN support to help it attain its economic and social goals.

Jim Yong Kim said the WB stands by Tunisia in addressing short-term economic difficulties.  The World Bank will support Tunisia’s reform process, he underscored.

The meeting was held in the presence of Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia Chedly Ayari and several cabinet members.
