Habib Essid meets members of ruling coalition parties’ coordination

07 April 2016 - TAP - The general situation in the country and national priorities in the security, economic and social fields were discussed at a meeting held Thursday at Dar Dhiafa Carthage between Prime Minister Habib Essid and members of the co-ordination of ruling coalition parties.

Habib Essid informed members of the co-ordination of the government’s action program for the coming period, particularly the initiation of reforms in several areas, the Prime Ministry said in a press release.

Also on the agenda was the five-year development plan (2016-2020), particularly after the completion of stages related to the needs of regions and sectors, policy-making and defining priorities and projects.

The meeting also focused on the process of establishment of decentralization and local government, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 7 of the Constitution and the preparations for the municipal elections.

It also discussed the reform of the social welfare systems and ways to reduce the deficit of social funds, estimated at 1.1 billion dinars in the years 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The meeting was attended by presidents and representatives of ruling parties, including Rached Ghannouchi (Ennahdha), Slim Riahi (Free Patriotic Union), Hafedh Caïd Essebsi (Nida Tounes) and Mohamed Louzir (Afek Tounes).

Earlier in the morning, the ruling coalition parties held a preparatory meeting to unify positions about issues on the agenda of the meeting with the Prime Minister.

MP and leader in Afek Tounes, Karim Helali said after the meeting the municipal and regional elections could take place in the second week of March 2017.
