24 May 2016 - Tunisia had provided a considerable support to migrants and refugees during the Libyan crisis in 2011, asserted on Monday Prime Minister Habib Essid.

Speaking at the opening of the Humanitarian Summit whose works started, on Monday in Istanbul, the Prime Minister underlined that Tunisia has focused this year on setting up an emergency plan for humanitarian relief in its territories.

This plan, he explained, takes into consideration the capacities and needs of its structures and bodies insofar as humanitarian action requires support from the international community especially for countries which are engaged in a process of transition. Essid called for an active partnership for sustainable development.

He voiced conviction that restructuring of humanitarian action requires a strong commitment to favor compromise and peaceful settlement of the problems.

Prime Ministe Habib Essid arrived, on Sunday evening in Istanbul, to participate in the Humanitarian Summit held on May 23-24 in Turkey. Over 60 heads of state and government are taking part in the meeting.
