PM meets in Istanbul with German Chancellor

24 May 2016 - Prime Minister Habib Essid met, on Monday in Istanbul, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on the fringes of the first

World Humanitarian Summit held on May 23-24 in Turkey.

The talk turned on the bilateral relations and means to boost them given the challenges of the coming stage, specified Elyès Ghariani, Adviser for the Prime Minister in charge of Diplomatic Affairs.

German Chancellor reasserted her country's support to Tunisia on the economic and security levels, notably in matters of border protection.

Earlier in the day, The Prime Minister had talks notably with United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-moon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Prime Ministers of Malta, Finland and Gabon.

Habib Essid also met with the Tunisian expatriates in Turkey and enquired about their concerns.
