June 21, 2015 - TAP – Prime Minister Habib Essid stressed at a meeting of the Economic Analysis Council (French: CAE) Wednesday the need to take operational measures in the short term to avoid slippages that threaten the national economy and financial balances.

The meeting discussed issues related to the exchange rate of the dinar and the worsening deficit of the balance of trade and payments due to the significant decline in revenue of foreign transactions, exports, tourism earnings and mining products.

The council members have presented concrete proposals to ensure the revitalisation of the economy and the reduction of payments in the light of a precise diagnosis of the main causes of the decline in the key economic indicators.

The CAE has reviewed the economic situation of the country in light of the economic and geopolitical conditions.
