French PM to attend Tunisia 2020 Conference at end November

November 9, 2016 - TAP - French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Wednesday he will visit Tunis in late November to participate in the International Conference on Investment "Tunisia 2020" scheduled for November 29 and 30.

"France is fully committed to Tunisia and its government to help it promote its reforms and contribute to the success of its democratic transition," he said at the end of his meeting in Paris with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

Valls stressed his country's determination to help mobilise the international community, businesses, entrepreneurs and donors for the development of Tunisia "in a particularly courageous reform context.”

"I have confirmed to the Prime Minister that I will come to Tunis in late November for bilateral meetings and to open with him this Conference because France must fully fulfill its leading role,” he said.

According to the French Prime Minister, France will be present with a large number of entrepreneurs and companies insofar as France is the first country generating foreign investment in Tunisia.

During this meeting, emphasis was placed on France's support plan for Tunisia, in particular with regard to the implementation of the EUR 1 billion five-year support plan announced By French President François Hollande in 2015.

For his part, Prime Minister Youssef Chahed welcomed the "excellent" level reached by the Tunisian-French co-operation in this crucial phase underwent by the country, adding that Tunisia counts on its partners to carry out its development process , Including France.
